inderSTADT

Why the name?
The name in.der.stadt comes from German and stands for in the city. Alternately, and in my infinite wisdom, I had envisioned it as indian in the (German) city, which however would have made it something like inder.in.der.(Deutsch).stadt. Now, that would be a really bad and complex name. So, I settled for just inderSTADT!

Why the German name?
Warum nicht (Why not)? Well, instead of choosing to answer it that way, let me just say that I did feel like the inder.in.der.(Deutsch).stadt, when I used to live in Germany, where I got seriously and irrevocably bit by the wander.lust in.der.stadt bug.

Who am I?
You now know that I am Indian, or at least that I say I am, that I have lived in Germany, if using a few Deutsche worten should be taken as any proof, and that I claim to have been bitten by some stadt bug. Well … well, what? This should be sufficient information about moi at this point. If you are just too creepy or genuinely curious, send me a note by using the contact link and I may even surprise myself by sending you a response ;=)

What can you expect to see here?
Presently, inderSTADT is intended as a 100% vanity site, primarily as a posting forum for pictures, personal and postcard-type, taken by me during my travels to various stadts and anti-stadts, if you will, worldwide .. well, at least, that’s the intent. Execution of this intent, like they say, remains to be seen. To quote a cliche grande, so little time, so little(r) money, and so much (more) to see ..

isai dhanyasy

What is isai dhanyasy?
isai is Music in Tamil and dhanyAsy is a janya (derivative) raaga of the 8th melakartha (base) raaga – HanumathOdi. And, what is a raaga? Well, limiting ourselves to a conceptual perspective, it is something in Indian Classical Music that may be thought of as an acoustic method of colouring the mind of the listener with an emotion.

So why the name?
For a very eponymous reason, not that there is anything wrong with that, and as you will soon find out what the eponymy is. Section(s) of this site falling under the isai dhanyasy header is reserved for Indian Classical Music-related communications from my wife, Dhanya Subramanian. Now, do you see the connection? Well, never mind ..
