It began as a subterfuge, in the early 1950’s, with the objective of “beating the system” to get labeled wine ahead of its regulated release date. In the 50+ years since, it has been successfully monetized, with a sales growth of nearly 8000% (80M+ bottles). Thanks to extremely clever mass marketing (talk about demand generation) primarily by Georges Duboeuf that has made the annual release of this wine primeur (read, early wine), a frivolous event in itself, an impressive money-making venture. Yes, I am referring to Beaujolais Nouveau ..

Space-Moon Conundrum

Last night, the 4-yr old asks, “Is Moon in space or space is in Moon?”. To which I reply, “Moon is in space”. Pat comes her next question, “So no space in Moon?”. xD

Media convergence, sarvam mAyam

A very nice “Did you know?” video from XPLANE and The Economist on Media Convergence. Reinforces the vision of futurist, Raymond Kurzweil. What used to fit in a building now fits in your pocket, What fits in your pocket now will fit inside a blood cell in 25 years. Spiritually, is this all leading us toward the realization of the connected oneness?

My Starbucks VIA Experience @North Dome, Yosemite

On October 2nd 2009, two brave photography (and coffee) addicts set out to hike to North Dome in Yosemite for a sunset/moonlit view of the Half Dome. On our way we stopped at Starbucks in Oakdale, CA for some bean juice and was challenged in a taste test between Pike’s Place and the VIA (what?). We won and left with a few packets of Starbucks Via in our pockets. This is what happened next…

SoMe God

This multi-headed image from Hindu Mythology is a reflection of how I feel myself, about all the online profiles I have, on Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, LinkedIn, et cetera ... If I could add SoMe (Social Media) God into a pantheon this one would be my candidate!

Why mechanical is an automatic choice for some watchheads!

Some reasons on why one should go for a mechanical/automatic watch when quartz watches are more accurate. And, why mechanical versions – even of the same watch – are more expensive. For some detailed Q&A on the mechanical vs quartz topic, I found chronocentric.com to have some honest and satisfying answers.

No Sway Sivaji for Sowcar’s Quien Sera, pArtha nyAbagam illayo

Enjoy this song in which Sivaji Ganesan is smokin’ haat and Sowcar Janaki is so hip to sway anything below her waist! pArtha nyAbagam Illayo literally means “don’t you remember seeing (this one)?” in Tamil. When this song must have come out (1964) and in the years thereafter, not many in the South of India would have “remembered” seeing this one as Sway with Me (Dean Martin, 1954) or Quien Sera (1953).

Scratching the Surface of Content Marketing with Social Context

A personalized trailer of PROTOTYPE (game) after I opened my Facebook kimono to them. A glimpse of what is possible already in content marketing w. social context; it is going to become not only more specific and sophisticated but also go up a notch… in immersiveness .. and soon you wouldn’t even be bothered to open your kimono for any foreplay .. such customization of content will become seamless & all pervasive!

Dil tadap tadap ke .. Szla dzieweczka do gajeczka ..

Dil tadap tadap ke will conclude my trilogy of posts on Salilda songs inspired by western music. Here, the inspiration was the Polish folk song – Szla dzieweczka do gajeczka. Enjoy this Madhumati video remixed with the original Polish folk song. Many thanks to itwofs.com for the research and reference!

From Do Bigha Zameen, a search for Polyushko Polye!

When Google and YouTube could not help me find what I was looking for, viz., inspiration for the Salilda song Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke from the Hindi movie Do Bigha Zameen (1953). Turns out it is the extremely popular Russian (Soviet) song, Polyushko Polye! Here is a short post on my discovery voyage that finally made the connection with a spasiba!
